Research Paper Proposal: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder, also known as PTSD, is an anxiety disorder caused by stress-induced incidents such as combat, abuse, natural disasters, etc. Because post-traumatic stress disorder is a psychological health condition that’s caused by a disturbing incident — either experiencing the trauma or being a witness to it commonly has lasting effects on an individual. Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder can include flashbacks, nightmares, and severe anxiety as well as overwhelming memories of the event. The explanations of post-traumatic stress disorder mainly focus on how the mind is affected by the traumatic experiences an individual endures. Researchers contemplate that, after being introduced to devastating trauma, the mind is incapable of processing information and emotions in a natural way. It is as if the way a person thinks and feels at the time of the traumatic event creates their own reality, which later intrudes into the individual’s consciousness and causes unavoidable distress.
