How did breastfeeding mothers experience their return to work? What challenges did breastfeeding mothers face upon returning to work?

Breastfeeding mothers and employment challenges

This chapter presents a critical overview of the existing scholarship surrounding issues of identity formation within the framework of mothering and mother work, specifically as it occurs in the context of the Qatari workplace. An array of feminist theories will feature heavily both in the present study and in the literature reviewed in this chapter. As will be shown, these theoretical foundations are essential to achieving a fundamental goal of the present study: the exploration of the Qatari working mother experience upon return to work and their breastfeeding practices in the Qatari workplace. Additionally, this chapter will explain how these theories will be applied to answer the research questions:

  1. Exploring the importance of breastfeeding to Qatari mothers in paid work.
  2. How did breastfeeding mothers experience their return to work?
  3. What challenges did breastfeeding mothers face upon returning to work?
  4. How do the challenges faced by breastfeeding mothers compare with their expectations?

Try to think of ways to identifying a gap in the literature while also honoring the work of others and acknowledging the difficulties of publishing work in US and UK dominated spaces when you are not writing about them or in a manner that may be different. Perhaps you can adopt a curious tone? I also wonder whether there is an Arabic literature here you can access if you haven’t’ already?
